Top 10 Agriculture Scholarships for International Students

There are agricultural scholarships available for those who want to study agriculture or agribusiness at the university level. The scholarships contribute to lowering the overall cost of the education. If you adhere to the conditions, you won’t have to pay the money back like you would with a loan.

Because agriculture is an ever-evolving field of study, a multitude of educational institutions and international organizations now provide agricultural scholarship opportunities and scholarships to students who intend to major in this area of research.

There are many different scholarship possibilities available to students who are interested in pursuing professions in agriculture. These opportunities are aimed to assist students in completing their college educations.

1. Agriculture Future of America Scholarship Program

Scholarships are given out annually by the AFA and its partners to high school seniors who are graduating and undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in agriculture and food-related degree programs anywhere in the United States. The sum of the award varies, but it is at least $1,600, and it comes with a sponsorship to the AFA Leaders Conference, which is worth $1,250.

The beneficiaries of scholarships will be chosen based on their career vision and goals, their commitment as a leader and in the community, as well as their financial need. A number of the candidates will be chosen in accordance with a particular criterion requirement that has been established by our partner organizations and communities. Early in the month of June, applicants will be informed as to whether or not they have been awarded the scholarship.

2. Ferne Daniel Scholarship

Students who have graduated from Ephrata High School and are planning to enroll in a four-year college program are eligible to apply for the Ferne Daniel Scholarship. The scholarship provides a total of $2,900 in funding, which may be distributed among one or more awardees at the committee’s discretion.

The student is required to major in either education or agriculture or a field that is related to either of those fields.

3. WILLIAM F. HELMS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Do you have any interest in pursuing a career in agriculture, botany, plant pathology, entomology, or any of the other biological sciences? The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers a paid internship program called USDA Pathways, William F. Helms Internship, open to students at accredited universities and colleges. This program gives interns the opportunity to work toward protecting U.S. agriculture and the environment and easing the export of pest- and disease-free agricultural goods around the world. Volunteer opportunities in plant health emergency response, pest and disease inspection of plants and plant products, crop and commodity surveys, and pest and disease identification may be available to students. Students gain valuable experience in the real world through participation in such events.

Eligibility:

  • You must be a citizen of the United States of America; enrolled or accepted for enrollment at an accredited college or university; a sophomore or junior in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA; majoring in a program related to agriculture or the biological sciences; and willing to work for the Agency during school breaks (both summer and holiday breaks) for a minimum of 640 hours before the completion of your degree.

4.  CTA Internship for Information and Communication Technologies for Agriculture in Netherlands

Internship stipend (€ 800 per month for Bachelor’s degree holders, € 1,000 per month for Master’s degree holders) and other perks. Internships in the field of applying ICT to agricultural practices are now being accepted by the Netherlands’ Technical Center for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA).

The citizens of both ACP and EU countries are welcome to apply for this internship opportunity. A total of one year and six months will be spent in the internship (renewable once).

5. Masonic-Range Science Scholarship

Society for Range Management (SRM) presents an annual Masonic-Range Science Scholarship to a graduating high school senior, incoming college freshman, or current college sophomore who plans to major in range science or a closely related discipline. The award carries both monetary and symbolic value for the recipient. Applicants must be enrolled in, or have plans to enroll in, a range science program at an authorized college or university to be considered for the scholarship.

In order to be considered, candidates must be sponsored by a current member of the Society for Range Management (SRM), the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD), or the Soil and Water Conservation Society. The SRM Student Activities Committee’s subcommittee, the Masonic-Range Science Scholarship Committee (MasCom), makes the final selection of scholarship recipients.

6. Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture Scholarship

Future agricultural industry workers are eligible to receive one prize in the amount of $2,500 as well as several dozen awards in the amount of $1,000 each year thanks to the efforts of the Missouri Youth in Agriculture Committee.

Applicants are required to have taken part in an FFA or 4-H Division Missouri State Fair Youth Exhibition, be current members of FFA or 4-H, be seniors in high school, and major in agriculture at a Missouri college or institution that is regionally or nationally accredited. A prominent reason for disqualification is previous sales of cattle at the Sale of Champions.

7. Moore County Gin Doug Nix Memorial Scholarship

In 2009, the members of the Moore County Gin collectively decided to honor Mr. Doug Nix by establishing this memorial scholarship. Over the course of his more than half a century-long farming career in the Texas Panhandle, Mr. Nix was honored with a number of prestigious accolades. The Carson County Gin, the Moore County Gin, and the Amarillo Cotton Warehouse were all established with his participation as an organizer and founding partner.

Eligibility

A) The applicant must be a senior at Channing, Dalhart, Dumas, Stratford, or Sunray High School when the scholarship is awarded; and

B) Have a cumulative grade point average in high school of at least 75 (or 3.0 on a scale of 4.0)

8. Edwin Munro Scholarships in Agricultural Science at University of Queensland, Australia

If you have a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Queensland and have graduated with honors, you may be eligible for an Agricultural Science scholarship through the university. The scholarship is open to first-year graduate students in a Faculty of Science-administered program who are enrolled full-time in that program for the academic year in which the award is given.

9. William J. Collins Scholarship

This fund, which has traditionally given out two annual awards of $1,500 each and is managed by Agriculture Future of America, was named after the retired executive from AgriBank that it honors and was established in his honor.

Candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, as well as an intention to pursue a bachelor’s degree in an agriculture-related program in the United States. The candidates are chosen based on their career goals, leadership qualities, involvement in their communities, and financial need.

10. Targeting Excellence Inc. Agriculture Scholarships

scholarships of $1000 for 2-year programs, $2000 for 4-year programs, and $3000 for graduate and veterinary schools.

Members of the national Board of Directors and regional leaders in the production of food animals will serve on a scholarship committee that will award the Targeting Excellence Agriculture Scholarships. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an agricultural program at an accredited institution that confers degrees in agriculture, but they can be of any academic level.v
